There are many reasons to specify and use timber products. Wood is uniquely renewable and has the strongest of environmental arguments. It offers long term value as an easily maintained natural material and has simple elegant appearance and feel, with unquestionable thermal performance, required for today’s tough construction regulations.

The European Forestry Commission and forest industries have been working hard to achieve proven sustainable credentials. Unlike any other window materials, timber can be traced to the original forest in which the wood grew.

Timber is the only naturally renewable material for windows. Most of the timber used by Inwido is FSC certified; responsibly sourced from well managed forests near our manufacturing facilities in Scandinavia and Poland. You can be sure that the wood harvested has been replaced by even more new trees, adding to the carbon sink effect of our forests.

This means our timber windows and doors use less energy to manufacture than those made from any other material, therefore reducing carbon emissions to the atmosphere. What’s more, our double and triple glazed windows and doors provide good energy efficiency, so will continue to save carbon emissions throughout their long life.

Utilising state of the art modern manufacturing techniques, high quality heartwood timber is used in many of our windows and doors. Alternatively, timber is treated to provide exceptional long service life performance.

They can also be repaired easily and inexpensively, extending their life still further, meaning even less impact on the environment than replacements. At the end of their life they can be recycled or used as a biomass fuel and if they do end up in landfill, they are fully bio-degradable.

Very few materials compare to timber in terms of character, style and versatility. As a natural product, it brings warmth, good looks and added value to any property. Couple this with high quality glazing and factory applied modern decorating techniques, and your timber windows will provide you with long lasting high performance for years to come.
